You might think I’m going to talk about sugar making you fat… I’m not!
Sugar (I mean refined sugar – cane, palm, coconut, rice syrup, pasteurised fruit juice…)
When I say ‘sugar’ I am referring to any sugar which is no longer part of a living fruit or vegetable.
Why is sugar so bad?
Stripped from its natural origin, sugar is void of the enzymes and nutrients necessary to break it down into glycogen and assimilate it.
That means every time you consume it, your body is stripped of vital nutrients. Eventually you will become depleted and deficient and you will lose your health.
Your gut microbiome is a complex bacterial/fungal environment which helps to digest your food, synthesise nutrients and signal certain mechanisms around the body. This environment relies on a natural diet and can easily be disrupted.
When you stop feeding your gut flora the right nutrients and bombard your intestines with sugar and processed foods, you starve the bacteria and fungi that you need and feed harmful bacteria, fungi and parasites. Over time you will lose your health and you may never be able to regain balance.
When you eat sugary foods, your body is likely craving fresh fruit. When your body doesn’t get enough or any of what it needs, you become more hungry and the cycle continues.
Cooked (pasteurised) and refined sugars (including most fruit juices) are void of vitamin c. Vitamin C is one of the nutrients in fruit which is not stored in the body. It is essential for good health and must be consumed in large quantities daily.
